June is Scleroderma Awareness Month

Scleroderma | Skleh – ruh – dur – muh |

It’s a hard word to say, but what does it mean?

“Sclero” means “hard” and “derma” means “skin”. Along with hardening of the skin, there are many other symptoms including stiff joints, digestive issues, lung scarring, and kidney failure. Scleroderma is an autoimmune disease with no known cause or cure.

June is Scleroderma Awareness Month. It’s a time for us to speak up and raise awareness for the warriors within the scleroderma community. Research is vital to fighting this disease, but because so few people are aware of it, our researchers don’t always get the resources they need. Help us get the word out.

If you are a warrior who has been diagnosed with scleroderma we are here to support you; we’ll keep listening, learning and standing alongside you.
